When it comes to health food is the building stone. There is one quote by the famous philosopher Hippocraties that really emphasises this – ‘We are what we eat.’ It is fair to say we can fix our health by eating the right food but we can also damage it by eating the wrong ones. Food is our guard against diseases, stress and toxins that we are constantly exposed to especially if we live in a big city.
There are foods that heal and there are foods that damage our bodies. Foods that have healing properties are what we call ‘alkaline forming foods’. On the other hand foods that cause damage are known as ‘acid forming foods’. So a healthy diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods and 40% acid forming foods and to restore health a diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods. Human blood pH should be slightly alkaline (7.35 – 7.45)- below or above this range means symptoms and disease.
A pH of 7.0 is neutral, A pH below 7.0 is acidic and A pH above 7.0 is alkaline. An acidic pH can occur from an acid forming diet, emotional stress, toxic overload, and/or immune reactions or any other process that deprives the cells of oxygen and other nutrients.
